Vote with your fork
You may not be sure if Diebold counted your ballot, but you can be darn sure that every morsel that passes your lips is tracked with barcode data. You vote every time you lift your fork.
What should you vote for? We like the suggestions at sites like Sustainable Table, Eat Well Guide, and Local Harvest. The words to remember are: locally-grown, seasonal, and organic.
Find a way to connect with farmers in your area - via CSAs, U-pick opportunities, or farmers markets. By building relationships locally, you can strengthen your community economically, learn more about your food, and turn eating into something you experience with all five senses.
Contribute content
Share your ideas and experiences about food at La Vida Locavore.
Take political action
Sign up for the Organic Consumers Association email list or join the Community Food Security Coalition to keep up with current news. They will guide you to contact your representatives and provide you with talking points when important issues come up.
